Blogging still strikes me as something so self important. It also reveals so much to anyone out there. I personally even have hang-ups about keeping a diary that someone else might read someday. Talk about self important… I wonder who that would be that would want to read my ramblings… and when might they read them. On the other hand there a few blogs I do follow, but it even that makes me feel a little voyeuristic. I think maybe I’m too old for this… or too private a person… yes, that’s it, it can’t be may age.
Why is it so important to keep people coming to our blogs. I guess I would have to find some higher purpose to justify the time it would take to come up with a quality blog. Could I see a blog that would help students take more advantage of the opportunities the library offers? What would draw them in? What grade level would participate and benefit the most? Do I have time for this? Do they have time for this?
I love technology and learning about what is out there. There is just soooo much! It’s cool, but how much of it is really useful to me? I don’t need a computer program to organize my life and schedule. I like my lists. I see a lot of duplication of effort… but I enjoy the exposure, and I guess you keep using what works for and interests you.
For instance, I like the picture resizer. Windows/Outlook offers to do this for you, but I didn’t know how to just reduce the size of a picture. This software does it in a snap. Again, I’m not too wild about giving away email addresses, etc. in exchange for the software. We are so often told to protect our information AND I get enough junk mail as it is. The photo editor is interesting. I also created a “slideshow” with Good Widgets mentioned on the widget movies. My connection is a little slow uploading pictures…
I added a Clustrmaps to my blog… it’s in a post. I had to replace some other HTML to add the clock. I couldn’t figure out how to just add HTML… the only options in my layout are for widgets. I also tried to add Contactify… but it wouldn’t work. I think there was another layer of registering… I also added VozMe… text to speech. No thank you on the making my blog talk… the voices still seem quite robotic. Finally I added a Google mini search.
Overall, I spent way too much time on this… represented by the clock on my blog and my wet clothes in the washer that haven’t yet made it to my dryer. Having said that… it was interesting!
