I'll start by commenting about Educreations. This has probably been our most promoted and versatile app for our iPads. Because it is open ended, it can be used for just about any subject are for just about any kind of project. It is simple and easy to use and can be managed and therefore easily projected to a SmartBoard from a teacher laptop after kids have produced their work on an iPad. It has its drawbacks in its simplicity there aren't a ton of options...this is one of its plusses, too. It's main drawback is that once a project is saved there is no going back to edit anything. This forces students to be prepared which is a good thing, but a block of time to complete a project from beginning to end isn't always realistic.
Lensoo seems to be a lot like Educreations, but what I like about Educreations is the accessibility on a teacher laptop to easily present student work to a SmartBoard.
Today I tried Deck. What fun! A very simple format that produces something that looks so "put together". Apparently if you leave Deck for any reason, like enabling it to access your pictures or going out to take screenshots, you will lose your project if you haven't saved. I also couldn't open it from my email with Deck on my iPad or iPhone. The PDF format and PowerPoint are nice, but not dynamic. I'm not sure how to link to or embed my sample here.
Haiku Deck was fun, too. I think I'm partial to the motion features in Deck at the moment, but I think all of these examples could be used as intended...a nice looking product in a reasonable amount of time. Students are being asked more and more to produce a product. If the emphasis is on the information and not personal creativity, I think these options have a lot of potential. Also, as a someone who needs to train teachers and students, these models will be great for those uses as well.
