Thing 44 The Economy

I want and need to be a smart spender and saver. I am also very practical when it comes to spending. However, I think I can learn about the best place and investment for my savings. It can be very confusing in these tough economic times and information is power. Overall, I maintain a pretty simple financial life. Mint and ClearCheckbook look like interesting resources for managing money wisely. The government sites looked a little dry, but searching with a specific purpose could help focus on some reliable information. Again, these resources might just be the answer for a friend or colleague. Public librarians may be in an even better position to use this Thing as a resource for people seeking answers to their financial questions in these tough economic times.
I played with the pig... Like I said I'm pretty frugal... but it was still interesting to see how little things add up over 5 years.
Putting the gas milage tips in terms of cost per gallon was revealing! Considering some people drive all over town to save 2 cents a gallon on gas. I'll bet they aren't aware of the 24 cents for going 65 vs 60 mph!
My cell phone rate plan was right there and accurate! This could be a good tool to see if you have too much plan...
My financial advise? Live simply. Carry little to no debt if possible. Pay off all loans as soon as possible. Save before purchases. Invest regularly and automatically.
