Thing 20

Okay, I can see how a MySpace page would bring in the younger patron. This appears an even better way to get the word out and the resources linked than the library webpage itself for the young users. They are here anyway and if you could get them to "be your friend" even better. And if friends with a common interest in the library also better. :-)

The bit of surfing I did on Facebook showed a much more straightforward page without a lot of personal adaptations. I did see a couple of old classmates registered... maybe to keep an eye on their children??? I couldn't see how to open someone else's page... is this the more secure permission component? I could get into the library related pages.

I may consider a MySpace page for the high school library. I would want to include what's new in the library, promotions, links for contacts, and links for quality reference information, such as databases. I may enlist an interested teen in making the site more relevant to their peers. It also could be a spot for some interaction or at least some recommendation of favorite books.
