Thing 8

Okay, so I started out skeptical about the value of these things. I tend to get overwhelmed until I let things soak in a bit. I wondered who had time for all of this? What schools have the resources to keep students engaged in all of the potential of this technology? I still wonder about these things. But, I began to see how I might use some of this personally. Then I could see potential for teachers, if they choose to accept it. But the synthesis of ideas and information depicted in the Web 2.0 Tools in Your Classroom slideshow is a real selling point for activating students in their learning in technological areas they may already be exploring or as one of the slides depicted...know nothing about. This seems as wrong as letting technology and edutainment take over the educational system. So I am back to where I often find myself... balance in all things.

The eFolio looks like it could be the next/current? big thing in resumes and job searching. Are colleges encouraging students to do this? Are employers aware and/or interested.

I've chosen to work with pictures using Picture Trail. At this point I think something like this could be used for library promotion and letting parents and the public know what is going on in the library. I have a medium speed connection...it takes a little while to upload pictures here and on Flickr too. There weren't clear directions, but with a little experimentation, the "show" came together quite easily. I had a bit of trouble posting it to the blog.

I'm really just starting to learn about and see the uses for sharing tools. I have been following other people's blogs and registered for a Delicious account.... but haven't really put it to good use yet. I need to and plan to organize my bookmarks and documents. I haven't chosen a format. I think this is a Thing that is coming up. :-)
